Learning at Home

Hello Families!
I hope you will find these packets easy and self explanatory. We have put together a mixture of different lessons we do throughout the week for you to work on at home with your child during this time. Most of the items in the packet are routine things so the students should be very familar with them. This is the first time doing something like this so if I forgot anything please let me know!
Below is an overview of some of our day in additon to what you will find in the Learning at Home Packets :
Language Arts-in our classroom we do the Café Daily 5 rotations. Each day they complete 2-3 rotations that are 10-15 minutes. Every day they choose to do a reading, word work, work on writing or listening to reading rotation. Reading- they choose a few books find a spot and read. Word work- they choose from a variety of options such as rainbow writing, spin a word, vowels and consonaunts, etc. Work on writing-they choose either to write in their journals or they write a comic strip. Listening to reading-students log onto epic and read books of their choice.
We also do Three-part drill, Heggerty, and Fundations each day. During the Three-Part Drill we go through all of our letters-sound cards and say the letter name, picture, and letter sound; then we work on blending cvc words; finally we practice writing letters on different mediums after given the sound the letter makes. Heggerty (10 in 10) we work on phonemic awareness skills https://www.heggerty.org/phonemic-awareness-for-parents. The last thing we do is Fundations where we practice segmenting words and blending sounds, we identify medial vowel sounds, distinguish between long and short vowel sounds, read nonsense and real words, and practice proper pencil grip and handwriting.

Writing Rotation: Writing Prompts They can choose from any of these 100 writing prompts. I just ask that they write for 10-15 minutes (of course they can write for longer) on their journal pages. We encourage them to write as independently as possible. They should write complete sentences, use phonetic spelling, and proper handwriting. Once finished they will draw a picture in pencil and label then color. They may do multiple writing prompts a day as well.
