My first great passion I pursued after high school was visual art. After earning my BFA, I worked as Education Director at Sweetwater Art Center in Sewickley,PA. It was there that I realized my calling was not to be behind the scenes in education, but to be in front of the classroom. My first teaching experience was teaching art through CitiParks which eventually led to my internship at The Falk School through The University of Pittsburgh's Masters of Arts in Teaching Program.
I have been developing my teaching passion now for 22 years, with the last 19 here at The Campus School teaching mathematics and robotics in the elementary and middle school grades. I use my art background daily from developing creative learning experiences to helping make lessons more visual for my students.
In 2001, I initiated our school's first robotics program and helped create math and science-based robotics curriculuae for Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Academy. Each year I coach our 5th-8th graders who participate in the First Lego League Robotics Competition.
I strive each day to be an inspiration to my students, encouraging them to pursue their passions and to become life-long learners who never stop making connections and positively contributing to the world around them.
I am not a teacher, but an awakener. ~ Robert Frost
